The 2017 inaugural HbbTV Awards are now open for entries from across the HbbTV community. The HbbTV Awards are hosted by the HbbTV Association with support from the HD Forum Italia (HDFI) and The DTG.

Entries close on 6th October 2017 and finalists will be notified by 10th October 2017.

All finalists are invited to attend the HbbTV Awards Ceremony on 17th October 2017.

The Awards recognise those companies that demonstrate the best adoption of HbbTV, with the theme:

HbbTV: Technical Excellence, Commercial Advantage

If you are involved in the HbbTV industry and feel that your contribution should be noted and recognised, this award ceremony and symposium is for you. Choose your category and get your entry sent to us as soon as possible!


Best use of HbbTV for Advertising and Promotion

The Best Advertising and Promotion Award will recognise innovations in enhancing advertising using HbbTV based technology, through addressability or interactivity.  Judges will be looking for a demonstration of how the nominated service is enhancing the value of advertising.

Best use of HbbTV for Broadcast Enhancement

This award will recognise innovations in interactive television which engage audiences.  Judges will be looking for a demonstration of how the nominated service brings value to the programming it enhances.

Best Multiscreen HbbTV Service

Recognising research and innovations in HbbTV services, this award will focus on services running across multiple screens.  Judges will be looking for a demonstration of how the nominated service brings value to viewing experience and to the service providers. This award in particular accepts demonstration and prototypes.

Best use of HbbTV for Content Discovery (VOD and Guides)

This award recognises innovations in content discovery applications from linear TV guides and video-on-demand applications to hybrid solutions.  Entrants must demonstrate how the nominated service brings value to consumers and service providers.  This award will be open to OIPF based services as well as HbbTV.

Best Marketing or Promotion of an HbbTV Based Service

The Best Marketing or Promotion Award will recognise innovation and creativity in marketing and promotion of HbbTV based services. Judges will be looking for a demonstration of how the nominated marketing or promotional campaign drives usage of an HbbTV service.

Best Technology Innovation in an HbbTV Product or Service

This award will recognise HbbTV based technology innovations of any kind.  A demonstration of how the innovation is unique and impactful will be what the judges are looking for.

Best Individual Contribution to the HbbTV Association

Recognising recognising the individual who has made the most significant contribution over the last year, this award will not be open to HbbTV steering board members.  Individuals must be nominated and the short list will be put to an open vote of the HbbTV membership.

Judges Grand Prix Prize.

From the entries across the categories judges will select a Grand Prix prize.
